We are seeking a dynamic Transportation Program Coordinator & Dispatch professional to join our team! This role offers an exciting opportunity to coordinate transportation programs, manage dispatch operations, and ensure seamless service delivery. The Transportation Program Coordinator & Dispatcher serves as the central coordination hub for community‑based services and assisted transportation in Rimbey and surrounding rural areas. This role combines front‑line intake, dispatch, and community navigation with program coordination, reporting, and funder accountability responsibilities.
Working in a rural setting, this position requires strong knowledge of Central Alberta services, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to balance real‑time service coordination with program oversight, evaluation, and relationship‑building.

Key Responsibilities
Client Intake, Dispatch & Community Navigation

Receive, triage, and respond to incoming calls, referrals, and service requests.

Conduct intake assessments to determine urgency, eligibility, and appropriate support.

Dispatch staff and/or volunteers for transportation and outreach services.

Coordinate transportation for essential, and social appointments , programs and events around town and surrounding area.

Maintain clear communication between clients, drivers, volunteers, and partner agencies.

Provide accurate information and referrals to local and regional services (e.g., food security, housing, seniors’ services, health support).

Maintain timely and accurate case notes.
Program Coordination & Service Delivery
-
Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of assisted transportation and related community programs serving Rimbey and Ponoka County West.
-
Ensure services are accessible, responsive, and aligned with the needs of older adults and individuals with mobility challenges.
-
Monitor daily schedules, service demand, and capacity.
-
Adjust services in response to weather, road conditions, cancellations, or emergencies.
-
Support continuous improvement of service delivery based on operational insights and participant feedback.
Reporting, Evaluation & Grant Accountability

Coordinate data collection, consolidation, and analysis, including:

Number of riders and rides
-
Ride purpose (medical, basic needs, social engagement)
-
Subsidies distributed
-
Qualitative participant feedback
-
Maintain accurate program records in alignment with evaluation frameworks and funder requirements.

Contribute to interim and final narrative and financial reports for funders (e.g., United Way).

Track service demand, response times, and outcomes.

Support documentation of lessons learned, program adaptations, and sustainability strategies.
Community Relationships & Stakeholder Engagement

Maintain strong working relationships with:

Local service providers

Healthcare facilities
-
Municipal offices
-
Volunteer and faith‑based organizations

Support partnerships with municipal, health, and social service stakeholders connected to transportation and seniors’ services.

Assist with coordination between staff, volunteers, and external partners.

Maintain up‑to‑date community resource lists specific to Rimbey and Central Alberta.

Support communications and outreach to enhance awareness and use of services.
Community of Practice Participation
-
Represent the organization in the Provincial Assisted Transportation Community of Practice.

Attend and participate in quarterly meetings.
-
Share promising practices, challenges, and insights.
-
Contribute to co‑design of standardized service delivery and evaluation approaches.
Compliance, Risk Management & Stewardship
-
Ensure program activities align with organizational policies, funder guidelines, and applicable legislation.

Maintain confidentiality in compliance with Rimbey Community Home Help services
-
Identify crisis or high‑risk situations and escalate appropriately.
-
Follow safety protocols for dispatching services in rural areas.
-
Support incident documentation and follow‑up.
-
Notify leadership of material changes affecting staffing, delivery, or outcomes.

Support responsible stewardship of grant and program resources.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
-
Diploma or postsecondary education in Human Services, Community Support Work, Social Work, Community Development, Health Administration, or equivalent experience.
Experience
-
Experience in rural community service delivery preferred.
-
Experience with dispatch, transportation coordination, or call‑centre environments is an asset.
-
Experience with data collection, reporting, and grant‑funded programs is an asset.
-
Familiarity with Central Alberta service networks.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months
Expected hours: 35 per week
